In the Therapy Room
A new client sits across from you, picking at their cuticles, bouncing their knee. You slide a textured sticker across the desk and say, "Here — run your thumb across this while we talk." They press the dots, focus on the sensation, and their breathing slows. You notice their shoulders drop. Over the next few weeks, they mention it without being asked: "I used the sticker thing on the bus when I felt a panic attack coming. It actually helped." The sticker you handed them in session became a bridge to the coping strategies you're building together.
